Homeopathic remedies can effect the kidney function. It can cause great harm to kidney, liver, lungs, heart and pancreas etc. It can cause great harm to ladies, gents and children. It specially causes harm to weak, sick and aged. It causes great harm to eyes.

It is mainly due to abuse and over use of the remedies. It is very difficult to follow  the curing principles and therefore people take the short cut method of treating diseases directly. This short cut method causes great harm and even kills. Most of the remedies are very deep and long acting. It can cause kidney and liver failure. The patient’s health deteriorates over a period and the patient dies. The remedies work as a silent killer. The remedies do not kill the patient soon after taking the remedies and therefore the immediate cause of kidney/liver disease is not known. The immediate cause of death is also not known. A careful observation will reveal that the immediate cause of death is over use of the remedies in past.

Now the great question is which remedy will cause which organ to fail. Every remedy has some/little/great effect on a preferred organ. The medical back ground of the patient will also carry much importance. The constitution of the patient plays a big role. And finally by rule—each and every Homeopathic remedies influence and attack the weakest organ first and the weakest part most. So, all the remedies harm to an extent depending up on the remedy, the potency and the quantity. Le us see a FDA report—-

"In many cases, people may be placing their trust and money in therapies that may bring little to no benefit in combating serious ailments, or worse – that may cause significant and even irreparable harm because the products are poorly manufactured, or contain active ingredients that aren't adequately tested or disclosed to patients."

The announcement is most certainly spurred on by the discovery in late 2016 of dangerous levels of a toxic substance called belladonna in a brand of homeopathic teething tablets. In the years leading up to this product's ultimate discontinuation there were over 400 adverse events reported and up to 10 deaths potentially related to this homeopathic remedy.

I fully agree and consider the FDA report to be correct.

Homeopathic remedies are entirely different in their action. Never compare it with other medicines. Never commit the mistake of taking Homeopathic remedies carelessly.

But remember, at the same time, that Single remedy system of Homeopathy is the only system in the world to offer complete cure by removing the hidden root cause of the kidney disease. 

The remedies are so strong and long and deep acting that even a minor error during the treatment will increase the kidney disease further and kill the patient. In this case, the immediate cause of death is not the kidney disease but the abuse of the Homeopathic remedies.

If any one is habitual of using the remedies in pills, he can never cure a kidney disease or any other chronic and serious disease. Because the one pill of the remedy, which virtually carries no medicine in side is a very large quantity. The remedy in large quantity, even if suitable, will increase the disease instead of cure.

I have experimented my self and experienced many cases. I will explain only few. 

I treated a kidney patient. He was advised not to take tobacco. But he kept taking. The remedy disagree with the tobacco and also the tobacco chewing will increase the disease instead of cure. The serum creatinine increased to 12. The patient became Anaemic and developed ascites. Despite so much of sufferings, he kept taking tobacco. During dialysis his blood pressure fell dangerously low. The patient survived only for 2 years and 10 months.

I cured a case of intractable life threatening colitis wth profuse bleeding. I gave the remedy. Quantity 1/30 of pill. The patient was cured completely and permanently. Today after about ten years, the patient is still healthy and disease free. The patient had taken Homeopathic remedies in past, which had complicated and worsened the situation.

I got a case of cancer, aged 27 , my own relative, left side abdomen, descending colon. The patient was operated in TMH Mumbai. After about six months, the cancer re-appeared. The patient was transferred to AIIMS,Delhi. After few days he was advised to be at home and no further treatment possible.

I was requested and obliged to take the case at the last moment of life. The patient was reduced to skeleton without food. Any attempt to eat caused nausea and vomiting. Unable to stand on his own. 

I used a remedy, constitutional. Manifestation was produced and the patient started eating food and stood and moved on his own within two days. We all became glad. I left the place and handed over few remedies and the antidote. After one week the cancer aggravated and the patient died. The investigation revealed that the patient had taken homeopathic remedies in past in very large quantity. This aggravated cancer further.

The immediate cause of his death was not the Cancer but the Remedy which I gave 1/30 of a pill. The remedy started to offer cure in the beginning but started increasing the cancer later on.

The very basic--What it cures that it creates and what it creates that it cures.

The 1/30 of a pill was very-very large quantity. It is due to this reason I have mentioned that one pill of the remedy can cure six cancer patients. And the quantity used in a serious case can never be more than 1/30000 to 1/50,00,000 (one by thirty thousand to one by fifty lakh/lac) of a pill.

It will be difficult for me to believe that a case was cured permanently and completely by using a remedy with no complexity and no complications.

I have experimented and also experienced to see that a remedy in 30th potency—1 pill works for about 280 (two hundred and eighty ) years.

As I have mentioned time and again in my answers and blogs that Single remedy system of Homeopathy is not a tailored system. The ready doctors, ready hospitals and the ready medicine, the formula does not apply here. Every case is a new case and new search.

Key to cure--

—Right remedy-The remedy must be selected correctly. The wrong remedy will increase the suffering.

—Suitable potency for the case in hand--Every potency has a corresponding set of diseases that can be created and there by can be cured.

—Correct quantity for the case in hand--The quantity will depend upon the remedy, the potency , age of the patient, health of the patient and medical condition of the patient. The quantity must be either suitable or less than the required depending upon the susceptibility of the patient.

—No repetition unless the action of the previous remedy is totally exhausted.

TREAT THE PATIENT NOT THE DISEASE

 The first rule and the correct definition for cure is “ TREAT THE PATIENT NOT THE DISEASE”

In order to do this, we must find the root cause of all the sufferings and remove the root cause (infection) by using only one remedy called “Single remedy system”. The well selected remedy must produce manifestation.

It would be worth to note that disease is the front face of dormant infection in the body. Disease is not by it self. Disease is the natural out cry of the hidden infcction, probably since long. The disease gets treated and the hidden infection is either ignored or left over. This hiddden infection is the root cause of repeatedly falling sick. Therefore, in order to get a complete and permanent cure, the hidden infection must be expelled out and eliminated from the body. We need to trace the hidden infection and ascertain the constitution of the patient. The hidden infection can be eliminated only by constitutional remedy of the patient. Therefore, the patient must be treated and not the disease. Homoeopathy maintains that treating disease directly, as is done in our conventional system, can never cure a disease.

Trace the infection, ascertain the constitution of the patient, treat the patient, expel out the infection and get complete and permanent cure, the only for cure from within. 

It is a soft science and teaches us to cure the cause of the disease. It indicates that the approach to the cause should be soft and well defined. This is a science where every thing is in it’s natural form. This is the science for which there can not be any alternate. Either take the remedy in time or face the course of diseases. All other systems follow the disease but single remedy system of Homeopathy is ahead of it. All other systems treat a disease but single remedy system of Homoeopathy can abort the possibilities of the disease taking place. It does not allow the infection to develop and grow. It eliminates the infection from root.

Dr. Hahnemann, the discoverer explains--Disease is not my concern and the remedy I give, should not be your (patient) concern. He means to say that I have to trace the root cause and remove the hidden infection in order to cure you. So the disease is not of my concern. The disease is a mere help in tracing the infection. Diseases, on one hand become a guide in tracing the root cause (Latent infection) and on the other hand helps to select the right indicated remedy. He explains--The remedy should not be your concen because it is my way of cure. The cure is not ordinary, it is complete and pemanent. And that there is absolutely no other way to erdicate the hidden infection which is reponsible for the entire suffferings of a patinet.  

Let us understand— "Treat the patient not the disease"- It took too much time for me to understand this phrase. How can a patient be separated from his sickness? And how a sickness can be separated from a patient? Sickness is very much with the patient and a patient is very much suffering with a sickness. In order to understand this , let us say, a patient is suffering with following five sickness.

(a) Headache (b) Knee pain (c) Cold and cough (d) Skin disease in the nape

(e) Constipation.

He consults a homoeopath doctor. He informs him of his suffering number a, b and c. He forgets to explain the suffering number "d" and decides to hide suffering number "e". He informs and explains all other questions asked by the Homoeopath. After taking up the case, the Homoeopath decides the line of treatment after a lot of struggle. The treatment/remedy is started and it suits him. After some time the patient finds himself cured of all his sickness from "a" to "e". Now the patient wonders "how the sufferings got cured which i never informed to the homoeopath." It means that the patient was cured in totality according to the curing principles. The treatment was done for the patient and not for his sufferings. It ultimately means that the hidden infection was removed from the body and all the sufferings were cured automatically. This is a cure in totality. This is not the cure of the disease. This is the cure of a patient.This is fine art of Homoeopathy and I am sure that no other system of treatment can do this wonder except Single remedy system of Homoeopathy.

Once I gave some remedy to a patient and asked him to report the symptoms the next day. The patient turned up after three days. I questioned him for the late reporting. He explained that he needed to consult a dentist becaue he developed teeth ache after taking the remedy.  He said  "Teeth ache was not your concern  so I went to a dentist". I explained him that he was being treated for his complete sufferings and for whole body and not only for few sufferings. This again explains the totality of the symptoms, the very basic of true Homeopathy.

As we all know, we all have to, one day, ultimately witness the end of life that is death. The natural end of life is death and death under circumstances is accidental death. Death unwillingly or by some other reason is killing or getting killed. It is generally premature. The only thing to cause death is "cardiac arrest".

Remember that the Homeopathic stores and the clinics are the source of diseases and subsequent death. 

Over use or abuse or misuse of the remedies kill the patients and that is our subject to learn today.  I have experimented to see that the remedies kill the patients by aggravating the diseases. It may also kill by producing it’s symptoms in a human. Symptoms are the diseases created during the proving of the remedies. These facts have been noted by our world famous Homeopathic Doctor E B Nash MD. Refer "Expanded work of Dr. Nash" Preface page number xvii. It states that --The drug capable of curing, misapplied may kill instead of curing. So, I would like to warn once again and remind you that the remedy is beneficial only if applied and taken correctly. If wrongly used it will harm and kill. Remember it and do not forget.

Invariably, the question is how do the remedies kill—-

The two basic purpose of the remedies are as follows—

One is for the purpose of proving. During proving the remedy is taken repeatedly to understand the created symptoms and characteristic behaviour of the remedy. Our ancestors have already done the work of proving from all the possible resources. They have struggled a lot and many have lost their life during the process of proving. 

                                                                          The second is for the purpose of curing. It is up to us to use the remedies for the purpose of cure. Only a micro quantity of the remedy is required for curing a case. The higher potency or the larger quantity is life threatening.

It would be worth to note that the effect of the remedy (the so called drug disease or the disease created by the remedy) is more serious than the natural disease of the patient. We fail to realise this because the serious disease created by the remedy is not instant in most of the cases. The remedy takes time to create the serious disease. The working duration will depend up on the remedy, the potency, the quantity, the patient’s medical background and the age etc. This can be well compared with the momentum of a vehicle which is gained as a product of it’s mass and velocity. Quanty represents the mass, potency is like velocity and the effect is like a gained momentum. The remedy in excess acts on the organ and starts causing harm. Remember 1/30,000 of a pill may be a large quantity for the case in hand. It can cause retention of urine, kidney failure, liver failure, heart attacks etc. These diseases are the created symptoms during the proving of a remedy. And now the very basic— “What it creates that it cures and what is cures that it creates”. It is worth to know that one remedy may produce 100 diseases but all the 100 diseases will not be produced in one human and this complexity makes us to consider the constitution of the patient and the medical background. Going deeper in the subject, one remedy may produce symptoms of some other closely related remedy which makes us to consider the remedy’s relationship with other remedies. This makes us to think that the remedies offer complete cure but the process of cure is not simple and straight. Even if we have clear symptoms and pointers the right indicated remedy may not be selected, This point stops us from going further and most of us quit to follow real sense of Homeopathy, the curing principles, the law of cure. They follow the short cut method of disease based treatment which is again more harmful and dangerous. This is the reason the remedies cures non but kills many

The death due to incorrect and over use of the remedy is not new. Many people lost their life during proving of the remedy. The discoverer Dr. Hahnemann, himself became dangerously sick due to the over use of the remedy. Every hope of his survival was lost. But by the grace of God, he survived. 

The main confusion is due the fact that the remedies do not kill soon after taking the remedy. The action of the remedy is not linear. The remedies display the symptoms and remain silent for some time and reappear again. We think that the action has exhausted. 

When the action goes to the peak, most of the patients fall sick and get killed. The young and the strong survive where as the weak and the aged get killed. The time taken to reach the peak action will depend up on the remedy, the potency, the quantity, the age, health and medical background  of the patient. 

Remember, by potentising a remedy, it becomes more and more powerful like that of an atom and gains a characteristic, which is useful for human disease. It acts deeper and works longer.

There are many remedies—- One pill works for 300 years in it’s 30th potency. So, to use this remedy the correct quantity is about 1/10,000 to 1/30,000 of a pill (one pill divided in 10,000 to 30,000 times). If, by mistake or due to lack of knowledge , some body gives 1/100 of a pill, the patient will keep falling sick for three years and if by mistake one pill is given, he may keep falling sick for all his life and may get killed due to the action of the remedy, even before.

When we take the remedy, the effect of the remedy may be displayed by the patient after some time delay. This time delay may be used in judging the exact quantity of the remedy that is required to be given to the patient. The greater quantity produces the symptoms very quickly. The smaller quantity produces the symptoms after much time delay. A delay of about 10 to 15 hours may indicate that the quantity given was the right quantity depending on the susceptibility of the patient. We need to expertise the art.

If the remedy given is just opposite in nature to the required remedy, it may produce the effect much quickly. In such cases the patient may fall in-proportionally sick due to the remedy. The situation becomes worse.

When the action of the remedy is about to exhaust, it will try to leave the body. At this time the action goes to the peak. It then causes fever, attacks the alimentary system and then the circulatory system and finally the respiratory system etc. If the patient is strong enough, the remedy causes little harm and if the patient is weak, it causes great harm. If the quantity given was too much , it may be declared a case of multiple organ failure. The cause is silent because very few people know the use of the remedy. Here the remedy may work as a silent killer. May be, this is the reason, some body has said that using Homeopathic remedy without knowledge is like driving a car which is not fitted with brakes.

If the quantity given was too much, it will take longer time to leave the body and create severe distress. 

If the quantity given was too much, it will cause much disaster at the time of living the body. The situation may be out of control. It is due to this reason I call it a “Deceptive characteristic behaviour of the remedies”.  (Please read deceptive characteristic behaviour of the remedies based on my experiment and experience.)

Let us see the case study--

Case1— A patient aged about 75 years- Took 2 pills of Arsenic 30. After about 47 days he fell sick. His urine stopped. I was called for help. I gave Nux. Com 30 1/30th part of a pill. The patient improved for some time and again deteriorated. I was requested and compelled to repeat Nux.Vom 30. The case further deteriorated. I then gave aconite 30, 1/30th part of a pill to antidote Nux.Vom.30th. It indicates that we can not give larger quantity of the antidote. The antidote will create it's own symptoms and will further add and increase the sufferings.  He was admitted to the hospital and after few days he was declared a case of multiple organ failure. The cause of the death was Arsenic 30 two pills. The correct quantity for a patient aged 75 is 1/30,000 of a pill. 

Case 2— A person aged 80 was given sulphur 30 1 pill. He fell sick after 30 months and was declared a case of multiple organ failure. The cause of death was Sulphur 30 one pill.  In this case the effect of sulphur 30 one pill, came to the peak after about 30 months. 

Case 3— A cancer patient aged about 27 was given Argentum nitriucm 30, 1/30 part of a pill. the cancer aggravated and the patient was killed within 15 days. The Immediate cause of death was Argentum nitricum 30, 1/30 of a pill. The quantity 1/30th was too large for a cancer patient. 

Case 4- A kidney patient was given Natrum Mur 30— 1/1,000 part of a pill. He developed further complications and died. the immediate cause of his death was not the kidney disease but the Natrum Mur 30- 1/1000 part of a pill that caused severe cardio-spasm and heart attack. Refer page768 stomach repertory of Dr. Boericke. 

Case 5— A lady aged about 54 died of Ammon Carb 6 and 30. She used the remedies in excess. After about 1 year she suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Refer page 768 of Dr. Boericke Repertory (stomach). The remedy created severe cardio-spasm and killed the lady instantly.  

Case 6— A person aged about 45 took too much of Phytolacca dec. 6,30,1m for the obesity.  After about 3 years he died of sudden heart attack.

Case7- Argentum Nitricum 30, 5 pills. After about 12 years, the remedy took to the peak of the action and reduced blood pressure severely low. She became unconscious. The lady got saved luckily by the grace of God and by immediate care. 

Case7—Silicea 30, 5 pills. The lady faced severe cardio-spasm after 13 years. She got saved by immediate care and suitable antidote in time.

Case 8— A lady aged 70 was given Natrum Mur 30 1/10 of a pill. After one year time she had a severe face paralysis. Got saved luckily.

Case 9— a patient aged 60, used Thuja 200 and 1M. within two years he died due to the over use of this remedy.

Case 10- a lady aged about 34 years. Took on drop of Nux.Vom 30. Got admitted in the hospital after 2 days and luckily got saved.

Chapter-Lachesis mutus, page 380-doses ought not be repeated too  frequently.

Chapter- Lycopodium Clavatum, page-402-In not too frequent doses.

   —      - Phosphorus, page 496—should not be given in too low or too continuous doses, especially in tuberculous cases. It may act as euthanasia here. And you know what Euthanasia is?

Chapter-Syphilinum, page 606. In infrequent doses. and so on.

Once up on a time, even I used to wonder what these instructions could mean? The instructions indicate the harm and seriousness but never explains clearly.

THE PLACEBO

                                                                          The Placebo

Dr. Hahnemann, the father of Homeopathy, had fore seen the circumstances that we face today. His soul from up in the sky, must be crying to see the deformed use of the Homeopathy and the remedies. The definition of Homeopathy and the law cure has been modified to suit our needs and earn money. No one  should have any right to modify the definition and redefine the law of cure for personal cause or individual interest or for the purpose of earning money.

The discoverer advocated to use placebo just to control the psychology of a patient. That means the sole idea of placebo is to give extra plain pills. The placebo is also called lack sack or plain pills. By giving placebo the patient feels attended and that he is taking enough of the remedy to get quick cure. The sole idea of the placebo is to offer psychological benefit to the patient. He went to the extent of saying that unless you give placebo, you can never become a Homeopathic doctor and you can never cure a patient. Placebo forms an important part of the treatment. But remember that a placebo can never offer cure. A remedy offers cure and the placebo offers the psychological benefit because the remedy can never be given regularly. 

In present days, people use plain pills on the pretext of the actual remedy just for the purpose of earning money. The word placebo remains the same but the objective is different. Earlier it was for the control of psychology now it to earn money.

The more important—If a doctor gave only placebo to a patient—the placebo will neither harm nor benefit. That means the patient lost only time and money (Time is more important part of life than money). But at the same time the placebo did no cause any harm.

What if the doctor gave large quantity of the actual remedy along with placebo due to lack of knowledge —If the remedy did not suit to the patient—the remedy will cause great harm. Even if suitable, a large quantity will increase all his sufferings over a period of time. That means the patient lost time, the patient lost money and his disease aggravated and the condition became worse over a period of time.

Now let us understand why placebo—The action of the remedies are very deep and long acting. The remedies offer cure only if used in micro quantity. The over use can cause great harm and even kill. The micro quantity may be practically defined as the quantity which can surprise the Homeopathic doctor and the patient both and at the same time offers complete and permanent cure. The micro quantity in my opinion is 1/30,000(one by thirty thousand part of a pill), for most of the patients and many of the remedies. This quantity is safe and offers cure if the remedy can produce manifestation. More than this quantity is all dangerous to use. The only problem that can be faced by use of this quantity is that the produced symptoms may be mild and difficult to analyse. And the symptoms will appear only for few days.  In such case we can repeat the remedy again after suitable time gap.

Dr. Hahnemann offered a system of complete cure for the cause of Humanity. He was aware that common people may fail to understand the science of complex symptoms and therefore he warned that matching the symptoms of the patient and that of the remedy is of utmost importance. The extent of match is not 99.99%. The matching should be 100% complete and so much so to replicate the symptoms of the remedy and the symptoms of the patient. Failure to do so will cause great harm.

PLACEBO IS MORE THAN PLACEBO TODAY. IT HAS ACQUIRED MORE QUANTITY AND DIMENSION THAN IT SHOULD.

Homeopathic remedies are quick and very quick to react and act. I have seen injury remedies acting and reducing the pain within 1–5 minutes. This will depend up on the injury and age of the patient.

I have experimented to see the remedies to act within 60 seconds (Sixty seconds).

The action of the injury remedies so quickly may not harm much but the constitutional remedies should never act and display the symptoms so quickly. If a constitutional remedy acts and displays the symptoms so quickly that means the quantity of the remedy is much more than the required. Also the potency of the remedy will be in question. It also may mean that the age of the patient was not considered.

If the constitutional remedy produces the action and displays symptoms so quickly that means the remedy is bound to harm and even make the patient seriously sick. But this harmful and killing effect will come after many months and years or even decades. The time taken to produce killing effect depends upon on the remedy, the potency , the quantity , age of the patient and health condition of the patient. Experience has taught that at this time the remedy is at the peak of the action. If the patient survives then he will keep falling sick for almost the period equal to the time taken to reach the peak action. That means if remedy has taken 7 years to produce it’s peak action, it will take next seven years to exhaust it’s action and leave the body.

A delay of about 10 to 15 hours may indicate that the quantity given was the right quantity, depending on the susceptibility of the patient. We have to expertise the art.

If the remedy given is just opposite in nature to the required remedy, it may produce the effect much quickly. In such cases the patient may fall in-proportionally sick due to the remedy. The situation becomes worse.

When the action of the remedy is about to exhaust, it will try to leave the body. At this time the action goes to peak. It causes fever. The milk is beneficial and is also a part of our balanced diet. The average quantity of milk consumed by an adult may vary from 250ml to 1000ml daily. Alright now, can we take 2000 ml of milk daily? Yes, we can take but rarely and not all of us. So far so good but now think, can we take 5000ml of milk daily? The answer is no. The milk is same but depending upon the quantity the answer has changed from YES to RARELY and finally to NO. But what can happen if we drink 5000ml of milk forcefully. The first thing will be that our body will not accept it and we will vomit it out. It may cause us to fall sick.

Let us take one more example. We breath air and oxygen is used by our lungs for the exchange of carbon dioxide. Oxygen is our very need for survival. Each second of our life should be oxygenated. But think, can we breath pure oxygen. The answer is NO. If we breath pure oxygen for longer and longer time, there may be oxidation which will cause heat. It is undesirable and harmful as well.

So is the case with Homoeoepathic preparations, the so called remedy. The remedy is beneficial only if it is taken in the way it is required to be taken. And to know the way and correct use, it takes decades and decades, to understand the characteristics behaviour of a remedy. just believe me for now. So, I would like to warn once again and remind you that the remedy is beneficial only if applied and taken correctly. If taken incorrectly, only God knows the result. Remember it and do not forget.

A human body is made up of five elements namely Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Sky. I would like to mention that few people believe that these five elements are subtle elements and claim that a human body has three hidden elements namely Intellect, Ego and soul. The hidden elements makes us to crave to live. We can not see these three but it exists and no body can deny the existence of these three. It hasn't been a great year for advocates of homeopathy – a pseudoscience that has been practiced for over 200 years. Following on from authorities in the European Union, United Kingdom and Australia cracking down on homeopathic treatments, the FDA is proposing a new "risk-based enforcement approach" promising greater scrutiny of the massive US$3-billion-dollar industry.

While homeopathic drugs should be regulated in the same way as any other drug, the FDA created a special dispensation in 1988 allowing homeopathic drugs to be distributed in the US without regular approval. As times changed so did alternative medicine markets, and the recent FDA announcement now recognizes that what may have been a small fringe community 30 years ago, is now a major billion-dollar industry, and greater oversight could be necessary.

"In recent years, we've seen a large uptick in products labeled as homeopathic that are being marketed for a wide array of diseases and conditions, from the common cold to cancer," says FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb. "In many cases, people may be placing their trust and money in therapies that may bring little to no benefit in combating serious ailments, or worse – that may cause significant and even irreparable harm because the products are poorly manufactured, or contain active ingredients that aren't adequately tested or disclosed to patients."

The announcement is most certainly spurred on by the discovery in late 2016 of dangerous levels of a toxic substance called belladonna in a brand of homeopathic teething tablets. In the years leading up to this product's ultimate discontinuation there were over 400 adverse events reported and up to 10 deaths potentially related to this homeopathic remedy.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is also turning its sights on homeopathy, announcing in late 2016 that any health-related claims made by a product must be backed up by scientific evidence. The FTC claims it will be increasing scrutiny into homeopathic marketing that doesn't clearly add the disclaimer that any health benefits, "are based only on theories of homeopathy from the 1700s that are not accepted by most modern medical experts."

Over the last 12 months, several regulatory bodies around the world have turned their focus on the field of homeopathy. In September, the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) released an expansive set of recommendations suggesting that public health bodies in the European Union should not reimburse homeopathic products.

EASAC cites numerous studies suggesting not only has homeopathy been effectively discredited time and time again, but that the field also presents dangers to patients by potentially delaying more robust and proven medical treatments. The advisory council sharply concluded its report quoting an influential study from 1998 on the risks of untested and unregulated medicines: "There cannot be two kinds of medicine – conventional and alternative. There is only medicine that has been adequately tested and medicine that has not …"

Both Australia and the United Kingdom also set out to scrap any public subsidies for homeopathic treatments in 2017. The chief executive of the National Health Service England described homeopathy as, "at best a placebo and a misuse of scarce NHS funds."

Despite 2017 at times feeling like a year where an anti-science sentiment was stridently taking hold, it is good to know that common sense can still prevail, and while those who choose to treat water as medicine are still entirely free to do so, it's reassuring that governments and public health bodies are not supporting the large-scale spread of misinformation.
